Members of the Cape Girardeau Public Schools Board of Education hosted an open discussion focused on community engagement on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Jefferson Elementary. Those in attendance were given a tour of the District's newest additions to the building resulting from the 2019 bond issue: the Pre-K Center, school gymnasium, pool, and innovation space used for STREAM (science, technology, research, engineering, art, math) lessons.
After the tour, school leaders shared how the District partners with and engages people and businesses in the community. Ashley Seiler, Chief Partnership Officer with Big Brothers Big Sisters also talked about the network of partners created through the ABCToday program. Attendees were allowed to ask questions and provide feedback centered around community engagement.
The next community engagement session is set for April 4, 2024, at Terry W. Kitchen Central Junior High from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
