The CHS Football Tigers were honored at the January board meeting for another stellar season. Our Tigers finished 10-4, making it all the way to the state quarter final game losing to the eventual Class 5 State Champion. This team produced five First Team SEMO North All-Conference Selections, two First Team All-State selections, one Third Team All-State member, and three Academic All-State student-athletes.
Caius Lange, a senior at CHS, was recognized by the CGPS Board Monday night. Caius has been offered and officially accepted a four-year, full-tuition Air Force ROTC scholarship to Mizzou. ROTC scholarships are highly competitive and only the highest qualified candidates are selected. This opportunity doesn't only allow him to attend Mizzou tuition-free, but as long as he does well he will have entry into an exciting career immediately upon graduation from Mizzou.
January's Terrific Tigers were also applauded by the CGPS leadership team and board members. Terrific Tigers are nominated monthly by their school buildings for being exceptional students with great character.
Jefferson Elementary (JE) presented how Project Based Learning (PBL) positively impacts students during the Academic Services portion of the meeting. Amber Walker (Principal), Roanne Dean (Assistant Principal), Tyler Lappe (PBL Instructional Coach), and Alisha Razer (Library Media Specialist) shared how PBL is opening opportunities for students to have new experiences, building background knowledge, and exposing them to career opportunities at a younger age.
