Mrs. Jahn from Blanchard Elementary received a mini-grant through Missouri Farm Bureau to implement agriculture in the classroom. One of her class' reading stories is about creating your own garden. It lists the steps of how to create your own garden, even when there isn't much space. This grant money will allow Mrs. Jahn's class to create its own vegetable garden using 5-gallon buckets. Dear Tiger Family, Thank you for being so supportive as we work through this unfortunate water main issue with the city. With that being said, we WILL be in session tomorrow and the remainder of the week unless there is an unforeseen circumstance. I wanted to communicate some of the precautionary measures we have in place. We have plenty of bottled water on hand for consumption, these will be strategically located in our buildings for students and staff. In addition, we have been told by our local health department to use hand sanitizer after washing our hands, it is readily available for usage. All food preparation will comply with health department guidelines. We are confident we can operate our cafeterias safely and effectively. Again, we thank you for your patience and understanding. This is what makes our district such a great place for our students. I look forward to a very good rest of the week! Sincerely, Neil Glass Superintendent

Monty, Mrs. Young’s snake friend at Alma Schrader Elementary, is starting her 23rd year of teaching kids not to buy into stereotypes. Despite the fact that many people tell us to fear snakes, students are wild about Monty! Danny and Megan from the Southeast Missourian found out why when they visited the classroom on Thursday!

CGPS welcomed staff back hosting its annual Opening Day at Kinder Hall on the Cape Central High campus. This year's theme was Willy Wonka with Dr. Glass, the district's superintendent, dressed as the main character. The Oompa Loompas, Veruca Salt and Augustus Gloop were all in on the fun! Things got a little sticky when the games kicked off, which included a race to feed Augustus the most items dipped in chocolate syrup! Participants won cash, gift cards and other items. This year's event featured Dr. Ed Leoni as the guest speaker and wrapped up with a staff karaoke contest. It was a fun day and we are ready for an awesome year with our students!
