Construction Technology
About the Program:
Community college credit is available. Grades eligible: 11, 12, Adult.
Students will receive instruction and hands-on experience in hand and power tool safety, site prep and layout, footing, and foundation forming, floor and wall framing, sheathing, window, and exterior door installation, and exterior wall finishes. Throughout our school district, students will be involved in a range of projects, all of which entail construction-related tasks. Besides the hands-on training, there will be extensive classroom work including math and communication arts. The students will also spend time being tested for basic job skills. Second-year students will cover areas of residential interior finish carpentry. This will include energy conservation, insulation, drywall, interior wall, and ceiling finishes, interior doors and trim, flooring, cabinet installation, fixture installation, residential wiring, and plumbing. Besides the hands-on training, there will be extensive classroom work including math and communication arts. Students will also spend time being tested for basic job skills.

Schedule to take the WorkKeys with the CTC Assessment Office (573.334.0826) and obtain the required scores:
Graphic Literacy- 4
Applied Math- 4
Workplace Documentation- 4
Complete an application & make a deposit of $100.
Provide proof of HS graduation (or GED).
Submit the background check form.

August-May (Following the Cape Girardeau Public Schools Calendar)
Monday-Friday
The morning block schedule is 8:25 am - 10:50 am.
The afternoon block schedule is 12:05 pm - 2:45 pm.
