The Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center offers training in  Emergency Medical Services, specific offerings include an Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMT-B) course and a Paramedic course.   To enroll in the Paramedic course, students must first complete the EMT-B course.   The Paramedic program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).

Upon completing this program, students will be eligible to sit for the National Registry Certification Exam for EMT-Basic. Students must be at least 18 years of age before taking the exam.

Become a Nationally Registered EMT!

• Must be 18 years old at the time you test for your certification.

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Health physical and current immunizations.

• Students must first register to take the TEAS exam with the assessment office.

• Obtain the required score of 50% on the TEAS exam.

• Submit a completed EMS application.

• Complete and pass a background check.
